My
Story
04/17/2010 Have not been updating much but did
get a few small things fixed. Had some adjustments in a window
fixed. Sun has been out and just driving and listening to
old music. Did talk to one of the previous owners of my Comet
he had bought it in 1989 and sent me a photo of him and 2nd
Place Trophy @ Car Show Jan. 1989" in Corpus Christi,
Texas
If you are a Comet person and have photos of
your car or project send them to me I will post them here
under More Comets. .
It's
a simply story, kid grows up and gets to reminiscing about
his old cars. Buys old car. In this case I started looking
for a 1964 Comet Caliente like the one I had in High School.
Well I purchased this 64 in LaGrange, Texas. My research shows
that the 64 was delivered to Dallas from factory, and stayed
a Texas car. It need a little attention the people I got her
from said she had been in a garage for 10 years. I thought
it was just part of the sells pitch but now I think they may
have been correct.
I
replaced the brakes and master cylinder and had the front
end check out and told them to fix anything they thought might
need replaced, aligned the front end added new tires. Now
she drives like a dream.
Then
replaced the battery, sending units, and had her tuned up,
while they had the plugs out asked for a compression check.
All cylinders came back with 175 lbs.
Now
I just drive her around town with the top down on weekends.
Had several people call wanting to see more photos so I have
added some. Sunshine came out today so I put the top down
and cruised around town, went to the Sonic. Had several people
stop and want to know what it was. As I remembered that the
Comet came out in 1960 and the last one was made in 1977.
And they made this body style only in 64 and 65 then went
to a long body style. It was a little warm (sure thinking
of adding A/C). Also have to get a stereo, the A/M radio works
but does not give much of choice in music.
